- Exterior and interior styling upgrades
- Available in dealerships this month
Mazda has introduced the Mazda6 Kuro Edition, a new model which is available in UK dealerships this month with a starting price of £29,250. Kuro means ‘black’ in Japanese and the car will be identifiable by its standard Polymetal Grey metallic paint work and contrasting black detailing.
Limited to just 100 cars in the UK, with 50 examples of both the Mazda6 saloon and Tourer estate models, the Kuro Edition features 19-inch black alloy wheels and black door mirrors, while the interior is finished in burgundy leather.
Powered by the 163bhp 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G petrol engine, both the saloon and estate models come equipped with the same range of equipment found in the Sport trim, and are priced from £29,250 and £30,250 respectively. Standard equipment includes a reversing camera, an 11-speaker Bose audio system, keyless entry, a heated steering wheel and LED running lights.
Now exclusively petrol, the 2021 Mazda6 range features four trim levels in total. Matched exclusively to the 143bhp Skyactiv-G petrol engine, both the saloon and estate ranges start with the entry-level SE-L, where there’s a choice of automatic or manual transmission. Sport models feature the 163bhp version of the same engine, which is linked to a six-speed manual gearbox.
The flagship variant of the Mazda6 range is the GT Sport. It’s powered by a 191bhp 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G engine, which has recently been introduced to the Mazda CX-5. This more powerful powertrain is linked to an automatic gearbox.
The GT Sport is distinguished by its gunmetal grille, while the interior features front seat ventilation and heated rear seats, which are finished in brown nappa leather. Other materials unique to the GT Sport include Ultrasuede trim on the lower dashboard and door trims, and real Japanese Sen wood on the upper dashboard and door trims. It also features white LED interior illumination, a seven-inch infotainment system and a safety pack, which includes a host of driver assistance systems such as a 360-degree monitor, adaptive LED headlights, Rear Smart City Brake Support and Driver Attention Alert.
Across all models, the 2021 Mazda6 now features wireless Apple CarPlay and the Polymetal Grey paint that comes as standard on the Kuro Edition is available as an option across the entire range for the first time.
